Letter from the President

Greetings, Fraters!

It is once again time to begin a new season with Alpha Omega. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready to engage with our fraternity this fall. As members of Alpha Omega, you are part of a huge international family. Fraters from many cultures all over the world share the same ideals, goals and interests as we do. Thinking globally and acting locally is one of the tenets of our great organization. The importance of this international network of dental professionals cannot be overstated when we consider the current situation in Israel. Alpha Omega stands strong with our Israeli fraters! As a family, we pull together to encourage and support one another during challenging times and we pray for peace.

On the local front, a primary goal this year for the Denver chapter of Alpha Omega is to grow our family! The future of our great fraternity depends upon mentoring new generations of dentists. Whether you are currently practicing or retired, I encourage each of you to invite and include new members, understanding that in doing so, you are helping shape the future of our profession. We will continue to collaborate with the thriving CU student chapter with the target of creating AO members for life!

Volunteerism is another endeavor I would like to see us engage in as a group. Providing vital services to those less fortunate is a big part of Alpha Omega. To that end, we are partnering with the Metro Denver Dental Foundation's Smile Again program, an opportunity to provide dental care to survivors of domestic abuse. These individuals are working hard to turn their lives around, and restoring their dentition not only improves health and function, but also does wonders for self-image. I hope you will realize what a privilege it is to have skills that can impact a person's life in such a profound way. Details about this special program will be provided at our first meeting. Please get involved!

I am excited for the meetings we have lined up this season. In September we will kick off with an update on oral surgery and medical emergencies by Dr. Greg Ingalls and Dr. Julie Lesnick. In November we are delighted to host Dr. Emilio Arguello who will share his expertise in clinical periodontics. During the RMDC in January, we will continue the tradition of breakfast on Friday morning. You will not want to miss our dinner at East Side Deli in February where we will host Rabbi Yossi Serebryanski and hear his perspectives on medical/dental ethics. Lastly, we will have a fantastic brunch (and possibly a golf tournament) in April. Stay tuned for more details.

It is my honor to lead our chapter. On behalf of the board of directors, I hope you'll join us this season as we live out the principles of professionalism, fraternalism, and Judaic values.

Fraternally,

Kari Amick, DDS

Denver Alpha Omega Chapter President
