Letter from the President

Greetings, Fraters!

I hope this letter finds you well. Fall is soon upon us, and if you are a Broncos fan like me, the term "kick-off" produces much excitement and anticipation this time of year. Alpha Omega is preparing for its own kick-off and I hope you choose to join us for what is sure to be a winning season, regardless of how the Superbowl turns out! (But, fingers crossed for the Broncos!)

Our meetings will be held at some of our past favorite restaurants as well as a few new ones hand-picked by the board. We are fortunate to have many engaging topics and dynamic speakers on our schedule this year, and two of the talents are from our very own chapter. Our September meeting will feature Dr. Terri Tilliss and Ms. Leslie Hilton, a master certified coach, who will present on what it means to be a true leader in today's dental practice, and how to incorporate effective leadership into your office. In November we will learn about the latest technology for digital impressions that makes adding CAD/CAM to your practice much more feasible and also gives you options in choosing the appropriate restoration for your patient. In January, we are delighted to host Ms. Rita Zamora, a well-known expert on social media marketing, who will educate us on this important, yet often overwhelming trend. As usual, we will meet for a hearty breakfast Friday morning during RMDC, the perfect way to start day two of the convention.

In February we will get to soak up the expertise of our own Dr. Sheldon Newman as he presents the latest on bonding and composites. As a former student of Dr. Newman's, I can assure you that you will be both well-informed and well-entertained by his presentation! March will feature a special social event for members and spouses, when we enjoy cocktails while attempting to create works of art at Sipping n' Painting. The season wraps up with a wonderful brunch at Inverness, where we will also hear tips from a DU Business School professor on a topic that will hit close to home (that is, if you ever use the internet!).

On the service front, our chapter continues to move forward with the project to get dialysis patients the dental care they need in order to be eligible for a transplant. The work we are doing and the data we are collecting are very important, with far-reaching impact, as the goal is to help other chapters start similar programs. We are working to streamline the volunteer process to make involvement easier, so I encourage you to do so!

Please join us for a great season of education, fraternalism and service with Alpha Omega!
