Alpha Omega Denver Chapter
Site Navigation
Welcome to the dynamic Alpha Omega Dental Chapter and its web site. The site will continue to be a work in progress so we welcome your feedback.
The Upcoming Events tab will describe the functions and activities planned for the coming year. It will also be the place where you can register for the next event on the calendar, or at least find the method to register for upcoming events.
The Past Events page will describe some of the educational opportunities and fun meetings we have experienced in the recent past. It is where memorable photos can be posted to remind us of those who have served before us and enjoyed the camaraderie of AO events. If you have some photos from past events please send them to the current chapter president, secretary, or webmaster, as identified in Contact Us.
It is important to recognize those companies and organizations that help us achieve our goals. On the Sponsors page we identify those companies that have provided financial support to our chapter.
The Officers tab allows you to identify the current board members, as well as those who have served in the recent past. For those issues that need addressing, or notifications of important information, please contact these people so that the chapter can respond appropriately.
We can post our individual accomplishments on the Members section. What have our members been doing in community service, support of professional organizations, and advancing the profession through providing continuing education or publications. This is also the place where we can honor those who have received special recognition.
On the About AO page the history of the organization is reviewed. We need help from our long standing chapter members to reconstruct the story of the Denver alumni chapter. The Alpha Omega International history is currently on the page so that you can see the heritage of this organization to which you belong.
For immediate contact information concerning the Denver Alumni Chapter, look in the top right hand corner under Contact Us. Links to the Alpha Omega International, the local student chapter Beta Iota, and other related organizations can be found on the right hand side of most of the pages.
Membership Application and Dues Statement
Click here to download the 2010-2011 AO membership/dues application. Please fill out the document and return it to Ray Pohl (address provided in the membership/dues document). The dues levels identified on the downloadable form include both the local and international dues. We collect the international dues and forward those to the AO Headquarters. A small portion of your dues also supports the AO Foundation.
President's Letter
Hello fellow members and future members of Alpha Omega Denver Chapter,
We did it last year and we will do it again this year. Special programming, fine dinners, good friends, and a growing membership won our chapter the "Chapter Efficiency Award for Small Chapters" at the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity Conference in December, 2009. This is a special recognition for our chapter and you the members that made us great in 2009-2010. I am looking forward to us having the programming, providing social opportunities and fulfilling community service responsibilities again in the coming year that will make membership in this organization a benefit to you, and an association that you will be proud to claim.
We will have a jam packed schedule of monthly events from September through May (with a break in the month of December). Programming for the coming year will have a theme of "Medically Related Issues for Dentists and Their Practice". Most of the programs and locations have been set. A few activities tentatively scheduled for April are still in the planning stages. The continuing education offerings are all CERP recognized and therefore qualify for meeting your CE requirements for membership in the Colorado Dental Association. Fifteen hours are required annually by the CDA. Eleven of those hours can be earned from within your own fraternity while enjoying good meals and the camaraderie of friends. You will find that membership is a great value.
Remember that your local membership provides you the chance to share with your professional friends, do some networking, helping dental students prepare for and enter the profession. But you are also part of something bigger. As part of AO International Dental Fraternity you help to support Israeli dentistry, oppose anti-semitism and all forms of social injustice, and you are an accepted part of an international professional community no matter where you may travel.
Your board members are working hard for you and for the future of our chapter and the organization. I hope our efforts are sufficient to deserve your continued support and membership in the chapter.
Sincerely,
Sheldon M. Newman, DDS, MS
President, Alpha Omega, Denver Chapter
